New Toronto Blue Jays interim manager John Schneider is shaking up the batting order for his second game.
Schneider will have first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. batting second, designated hitter Alejandro Kirk at No. 3 and shortstop Bo Bichette in the cleanup spot for Thursday's game against the visiting Kansas City Royals.
Bichette has been at No. 2 with Guerrero following for most recent games.
Meanwhile, the Royals announced eight call-ups to help fill the spots for 10 players on the restricted list for not meeting Canada's COVID-19 vaccination rules.
Infidelders Nick Pratto and Michael Massey, infielder/outfielder Nate Eaton, catcher Freddy Fermin, and outfielder Brewer Hicklen are up from triple-A Omaha, while infielder Maikel Garcia, catcher Sebastian Rivero, and left-hander Angel Zerpa are up from double-A Northwest Arkansas.
The Royals say they could call up as many as two more players during the four-game series.
Watch the Blue Jays-Royals series opener on Thursday at 7:07 p.m. ET / 4:07 p.m. on Sportsnet.
