The Toronto Blue Jays' plans for the second half are coming into focus.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told Sportsnet's Shi Davidi Tuesday in Philadelphia that the club has tentatively lined up Spencer Miles, Shane Bieber, Trey Yesavage, Dylan Cease and Kevin Gausman to start in that order out of the all-star break.
That would mean that Miles, Bieber and Yesavage would pitch in Toronto's upcoming three-game weekend series against the Chicago White Sox, and Cease and Gausman would open the Blue Jays' four-game set against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Miles last pitched on Saturday against the San Diego Padres, working two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in an 8-7 Blue Jays loss.
He served as a traditional starter on July 7 against the San Francisco Giants, battling traffic over four frames of two-run ball.
Cease will get some extra rest after serving as the American League's starting pitcher in Tuesday's All-Star Game, where he struck out three on 25 pitches in a scoreless inning.
Toronto will play both Chicago and Tampa Bay at home before heading to Boston and Washington on a six-game road trip. Then, after a day off, the Blue Jays will return home for a weekend series with the St. Louis Cardinals, leading into the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
The Blue Jays return from the break with a 45-51 record, sitting fifth in the American League East, but just 2.5 games out of the final wild-card spot.
