Owen Caissie, Matt Wilkerson, Justin Gideon and James Bradwell are the Canadian Baseball Network's 2024 minor-league award winners, the CBN announced Tuesday.
Caissie, from Burlington, Ont., took home the Randy Echlin Award as top minor-league hitter in the affiliated ranks. He hit 19 home runs at triple-A Iowa for the Chicago Cubs.
Wilkerson, from White Rock, B.C., won the Wayne Norton Award as pitcher of the year in the affiliated ranks. The left-hander posted a combined 1.90 ERA and struck out 174 batters at two levels of class-A in the Cleveland Guardians’ system.
Gideon, from Pickering, Ont., won the Murray Zuk Award as offensive player of the year in the unaffiliated ranks. He had 20 homers for the Frontier League's Quebec Capitales.
Bradwell, from Gibsons, B.C., earned the Claude Pelletier Award as top pitcher in the unaffiliated ranks. He went 12-0 with a 2.72 ERA in 23 appearances for the Capitales.
Eleven baseball experts were polled for the annual awards that have been handed out in 15 previous years.
