The Seattle Mariners are welcoming much needed support to their pitching staff.
Bryan Woo was named to their roster for the American League Championship Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced Sunday.
The 25-year-old last took the mound on Sept. 19, but was pulled after five shutout innings with pectoral tightness and subsequently missed the Mariners' ALDS clash against the Detroit Tigers.
Woo finished the season with an impressive 2.94 ERA over 30 starts and made his first all-star team over his three-year career. He racked up 198 strikeouts over 186.2 innings with an 0.93 WHIP.
General manager Jerry Dipoto said Saturday that Woo would likely take the mound towards the middle of the series despite the fact the Mariners had to use two extra starters in their marathon 15-inning victory over the Tigers in Game 5 of the ALDS.
Along with Woo, utility man Miles Mastrobuoni will also enter the fold for the ALCS. The two will take roster spots from bench bats Ben Williamson and Luke Raley as the team opts for an extra pitcher ahead of the seven-game series.
Bryce Miller will take the ball in Game 1 opposite Blue Jays' right-hander Kevin Gausman, with starters to be announced for the following games in the coming days.
First pitch is set for Game 1 at 8:03 p.m. ET / 5:03 p.m. PT, catch all the action live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
