The New York Mets will have to finish off Wednesday's game without their starting third baseman.
Bo Bichette was forced to exit the game against the Milwaukee Brewers with a left foot contusion, the Mets announced.
He appeared to suffer the injury after fouling a ball off his foot in the bottom of the third inning.
Bichette, who finished 0-for-1 with a walk, initially stayed in the game before he was replaced in the batting order by Christopher Morel in the fourth inning.
The 28-year-old has struggled in his first season with the Mets after leaving his long-time home with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Bichette entered Wednesday's game slashing .265/.311/.393 — well below his career averages during his seven seasons in Toronto.
The Mets as a whole have also struggled this season, as they sit last in the NL East with a 60-72 record.
