Boston Red Sox shortstop David Hamilton made an early exit from Monday's 7-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays due to discomfort.
Hamilton appeared to be grabbing the left side of his torso while in the dugout following his second plate appearance in the top of the fourth.
He did not take the field during the bottom of the inning. Enmanuel Valdez entered the game at second base and Roman Gonzalez slid over to shortstop.
Hamilton, who struck out during both at-bats, entered the game batting .288 with four home runs and 12 RBIs this season.
The 26-year-old had four stolen bases during Boston's 9-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Sunday night. The Red Sox set a team record with nine stolen bases total and it was the most the Yankees had allowed in a single game since May 19, 1915.
