Two-time AL Cy Young winner and free-agent pitcher, Corey Kluber, is reportedly finalizing a deal with the New York Yankees, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
The deal, per Passan, will be completed pending a physical.
Financial details of the contract were not immediately reported.
Injuries have limited Kluber’s performance in recent years. Shoulder problems derailed much of his campaign with the Texas Rangers last season, restricting him to just one game. The year before, a broken forearm led to him playing just over 35 innings total with Cleveland’s baseball team.
Kluber recently threw for teams in a bid to showcase that he can still contribute at a high level.
Signing the 34-year-old caps off a day of significant moves for the Yankees. Earlier on Friday, reports surfaced that New York and middle infielder DJ LeMahieu were also finalizing a six-year, $90-million deal.
LeMahieu, one of the top players on the free agent market, spent the past two seasons with the Yankees and accrued a 145 OPS+, finishing in the top five in MVP voting both years.
