The Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago White Sox are shuffling some pieces ahead of Saturday's MLB Draft.
Pittsburgh is acquiring infielder Jacob Gonzalez and reliever Brandon Eisert from Chicago in exchange for the 34th-overall pick in the draft and reliever Jaden Woods, the teams announced Friday.
Gonzalez, 24, was a first-round pick of the White Sox in 2023 and made his MLB debut earlier this season. The left-handed hitter was optioned back to triple-A earlier Friday to make room for Munetaka Murakami's return.
He played in 30 games during his first taste of the majors, slashing .244/.323/.360 with two homers and 17 RBIs.
Eisert, meanwhile, owns a 5.93 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 27.1 innings on the season.
The 28-year-old lefty broke into the big leagues with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2024.
In return, the White Sox add a competitive balance pick from Pittsburgh — the only draft picks that can be traded under MLB's current CBA — and Woods.
Woods has spent the entire season in the minors, posting a 4.84 ERA over 35.1 combined innings between double- and triple-A.
