Authorities in the Dominican Republic have received a second formal complaint that Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco engaged in a relationship with a minor, ESPN's Juan Recio reported Wednesday.
The first complaint was filed July 17.
A third girl has not spoken to authorities, but ESPN reports they are still looking into her alleged relationship with Franco.
Anyone over 18 who engages in a sexual relationship with someone younger than 18 can be charged criminally in the Dominican.
Major League Baseball placed Franco on paid administrative leave on Aug. 22.
Social media posts alleging an inappropriate relationship surfaced on Aug. 13, the day Franco was placed on the restricted list. He stayed there until the league sent him on administrative leave.
He last played Aug. 12, the day before social media posts alleged an inappropriate relationship. The league started its investigation that night, and Franco was placed on the restricted list from Aug. 13-21.
