Despite seeing their first pick in the 2026 MLB Draft slide back 10 spots, the Toronto Blue Jays once again had the opportunity to bolster their farm system with 19 selections over the two-day event in Philadelphia.
Toronto's first pick dropped to No. 39 after the club exceeded the second surcharge threshold of the competitive balance tax last season. The Blue Jays also forfeited their second-round pick for signing Dylan Cease, who had received a qualifying offer.
As always, the MLB Draft is among the most unique of all professional North American sports, but each selection offers a chance at adding a future impact player.
So, with the 20-round draft complete, here is a quick look at each of Toronto's picks, starting with ASU left-hander Cole Carlon.
39. Cole Carlon

The Blue Jays tabbed Carlon with their first pick of 2026, bringing in the six-foot-five lefty, who features an upper-90s fastball, slider, curveball and changeup. The 21-year-old moved into the Sun Devils' rotation in 2026 and proceeded to strike out 133 hitters with a 3.87 ERA over 83.2 innings, earning All-Big 12 First Team honours.
103. Ryan Cooney

School: Oregon
A six-foot shortstop from Oregon, Cooney will bring a profile to Toronto that should be familiar to Blue Jays fans. The 21-year-old is adept at putting the barrel on the ball and rarely strikes out, skills that helped him earn All-Big Ten First Team honours in 2026, slashing .331/.420/.524 with eight home runs and 13 stolen bases for Oregon.

School: Christian Brothers HS (Tenn.)
With their final pick of Day 1, the Blue Jays select the top-ranked high-school catcher in this year's draft. Brick was named Gatorade's Tennessee high school player of the year in 2026, standing out with his elite arm strength and strong defensive tools while posting a 1.572 OPS with five homers at the plate.
164. Nolan Higgins

School: Michigan State
Higgins made the transition to Michigan State's bullpen in 2026, striking out 62 and walking just 13 in 45 innings while posting a 5.20 ERA with four saves. A six-foot-four senior, Higgins' primary offering is a fastball that sits in the low-to-mid 90s, but he also mixes in a curveball and slider.
193. Gable Mitchell

Bats: Both | Throws: Right
School: Iowa
After being named to the All-Big Ten Second Team and All-Defensive Team in 2026, Mitchell lands with the Blue Jays in the sixth round. The five-foot-nine middle-infielder struck out just 18 times in 270 plate appearances at Iowa while slashing .360/.452/.535 with 25 extra-base hits and 14 stolen bases.
222. Dean West
Round: 7

Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School: UCLA
West was an on-base machine for the top-ranked Bruins in 2026, posting an .835 OPS with seven homers and 11 stolen bases while walking more than he struck out. West was also named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team for his work in the outfield.
252. Jake Bennett

School: Dallas Baptist
A senior from DBU, Bennett brings a load of power with big bat speed and exit velocity numbers to the Blue Jays, tools that helped him slug .776 and hit 19 homers in 2026. The 21-year-old was drafted as a catcher, but also spent time in the outfield and at designated hitter in his two years with the Patriots.
282. Joey Urban

School: Southern Mississippi
The reigning Most Outstanding Player of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, Urban hails from the same school as Blue Jays 2025 third-round pick Jake Cook. The 22-year-old senior slashed .320/.426/.574 in 2026 with 15 homers and 55 RBIs, and once again has solid bat-to-ball ability, striking out in just 13.9 per cent of his plate appearances.
312. Bryce Chance

School: Mississippi State
The Blue Jays continue their run of senior picks in the top 10 rounds with the selection of Chance, who hit 19 doubles and walked more than he struck out on his way to a .906 OPS across 62 games this spring. The 23-year-old walked on at Mississippi State in 2023, using his excellent feel for the strike zone and contact ability to become a consistent presence in the Bulldogs' lineup.
342. Brayden Martin
Round: 11

Bats: Left | Throws: Right
School: Maryland
Martin fits the profile of hitter that Toronto has continued to target in the draft, as he struck out in just seven per cent of his plate appearances in 2026 while hitting .352 with 21 stolen bases. The 20-year-old set the Maryland record with 145 walks in his career on campus and reached base in 76 straight games in a stretch between the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
372. Santiago Garcia
Round: 12
Position: Pitcher | Age: 21
Throws: Left
School: LSU
The Blue Jays select Garcia in the 12th round, following the southpaw's lone year at LSU, where he pitched out of the bullpen. The six-foot Garcia struck out 25 and walked 17 in 22.2 innings with a 5.96 ERA, throwing a fastball in the mid-90s.
402. Mathis Nayral
Round: 13
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School: Kansas
A six-foot-five righty from France, Nayral spent two years at Cochise College in Arizona before transferring to Kansas for 2026. Nayral — who will look to become the first player born and raised in France to reach the majors — made 17 starts for the Big 12 champion Jayhawks, striking out 71 hitters in 69 innings while posting a 4.96 ERA.
432. Connor Kelley
Round: 14
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School: Texas at San Antonio
Kelley starred in the UTSA bullpen for two years, carrying a 2.89 ERA and 122 strikeouts across 102.2 innings for the Roadrunners. In 2026, the six-foot-five right-hander was named to the All-American Conference Second Team after collecting two saves and 73 strikeouts in 66.1 frames.
462. Oliver de la Torre

Position: Pitcher | Age: 21

School: California
Toronto adds a fourth straight pitcher in de la Torre, who took the ball 14 times for California in 2026. Another tall right-hander, the 21-year-old throws a low-to-mid-90s fastball, a slider, and a changeup, which helped him post a 3.76 ERA and 72 strikeouts over 81.1 innings.
492. Carson Cormier
Round: 16
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School: Illinois State
Cormier was one of the best strike throwers in Division I baseball in 2026, walking just 4.1 per cent of the hitters he faced — the 16th-best mark in the country. His elite control and big fastball helped the six-foot-six righty post a 4.17 ERA with 74 strikeouts in 69 innings.
522. Landon Waters
Round: 17
Position: Pitcher | Age: 22
Throws: Right
School: Mississippi
As a senior at Ole Miss in 2026, Waters threw 24 innings out of the bullpen, striking out 25 on his way to two saves and a 3.00 ERA. The six-foot-one righty throws a fastball that sits around 93-94 m.p.h., a cutter and a slider.
552. Jake McCoy
Round: 18

School: South Carolina
After two uninspiring years at South Carolina, McCoy broke out in the Cape Cod League in 2025, striking out 25 and walking three over 12.1 innings of work as his fastball reached 98 m.p.h. and sat 94-95. He missed all of the 2026 season for the Gamecocks after undergoing Tommy John surgery early in the year and is committed to Tennessee as a transfer for the fall.
582. Cole Travers

School: St. John Neumann Catholic HS (Fla.)
A six-foot-three high-school shortstop from Florida, Travers earned player of the year, rookie of the year and offensive player of the year honours in his county in 2025 while leading St. John Neumann to a regional title. A Stetson commit, Travers continued to rake this spring, hitting .464 with 12 doubles, nine home runs and a 1.452 OPS in his senior season.
612. Eddie Rosado Jr.

School: Holy Ghost Prep HS (Penn.)
Toronto's final pick of the draft goes to prep outfielder Rosado Jr., who was an impact leadoff bat for Holy Ghost Prep in Pennsylvania, batting .463 with eight homers and a 1.545 OPS. Rosado broke his high school's career hit record in 2026, as well, and is committed to St. Joseph’s.
