The Toronto Blue Jays will start Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals without Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in their starting nine.
Toronto released its lineup without Guerrero ahead of first pitch, with Addison Barger sliding up to the two hole and Ernie Clement set to handle duties at first base.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Guerrero's absence is just for a scheduled day off.
The 26-year-old first baseman is slashing .275/.380/.421 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs while appearing in each of Toronto's 66 games this season.
During Monday's series-opening win over the Cardinals, Guerrero went 2-for-5 with a double.
With Barger sliding up in the lineup Tuesday, Alejandro Kirk will bat third after his four-hit performance and George Springer will follow in the cleanup spot.
The Blue Jays also announced that Nathan Lukes, who was originally set to bat seventh, was removed from the starting lineup due to neck discomfort. Myles Straw will enter in his place, playing in centre field as Alan Roden moves to the right.
Lukes, 30, is slashing .267/.360/.392 with four home runs, 12 RBI and one stolen base.
