Bellator MMA enjoyed a relatively strong 2020 despite the many obstacles the organization faced and the UFC’s top North American competitor has some positive momentum heading into its 12th year of existence.
Following a five-month COVID-related hiatus, Bellator president Scott Coker and his staff returned in July and held 15 events, including several in Europe. As we showed you previously, Bellator has many talented strikers that shone in 2020, but they also have Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champions and other elite grapplers that know how to end fights almost as quickly as a one-shot knockout artist.
In fact, there were enough impressive submissions wins this past year for Bellator to split its top submissions of 2020 highlights into two separate best-of videos you can watch below.
Part 1 features the likes of stars A.J. McKee, James Gallagher and former Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell who was both victim and victor.
Part 2 reminds us that Aaron Pico and Sergio Pettis are just as dangerous on the ground as they are on the feet and we see women’s MMA legend Cris “Cyborg” finally pick up her first submission victory after more than 15 years fighting professionally.
