The Philadelphia 76ers' season just got harder.
Tyrese Maxey is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season with a finger tendon injury, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Thursday.
Maxey, 24, has missed 16 consecutive games dating back to March 3 with the injury. The all-star guard is averaging 26.1 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists in 52 games this season.
After signing Paul George during the off-season with the aim of competing in the playoffs, the 76ers have struggled with both injury and underperformance, leading the team to a 23-53 record good for 13th in the Eastern Conference.
Philadelphia has the high cash total per injury days missed in the NBA, according to Sportrac.
George has missed 35 games with separate knee, groin and ankle injuries. The 76ers' franchise cornerstone, Joel Embiid, has missed 57 games, primarily due to the left knee injury he is set to undergo surgery to correct next week.
