Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine has a small ligament tear in the thumb of his non-shooting left hand, but intends to keep playing through the injury, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Charania adds that the injury is a matter of pain tolerance.

The Bulls made a number of additions over the off-season, including DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball, and are off to their first 4-0 start since 1996 after defeating the Toronto Raptors on Monday.

LaVine, their leading scorer, is averaging 25.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists while shooting 50 per cent from the field and 44.4 per cent beyond the arc.

Last season, the 26-year-old broke out with a 27.4 point per game campaign and earned his first All-Star nod.
