It appears it's not about the money.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Aaron Rodgers turned down a two-year contract extension from the Green Bay Packers in the off-season that would've made him the highest-paid quarterback — and player — in football.
The three-time MVP — whose four-year, $134-million extension signed in 2018 carries him through the 2023 season — is reportedly mired in a rift with the team, with ESPN reporting before May's NFL draft that he doesn't want to return to the Packers.
When asked earlier this month during The Match who would be the starting quarterback for the team this fall, Rodgers added fuel to the flames.
"I don't know, we'll see," he said.
Rodgers didn't make an appearance at the team's mandatory camp in June, which could cost him more than $90,000 in fines.
