Noah Dobson’s time with the New York Islanders has come to an end.
The defenceman has been traded from Long Island to the Montreal Canadiens, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported Friday.
The 25-year-old signed an eight-year, $76-million contract extension with the Canadiens, carrying an average annual value of $9.5 million.
Per Friedman, the return heading back to Long Island includes forward Emil Heineman and the Canadiens two 2025 first-round picks, 16th and 17th overall.
Dobson was drafted 12th overall in 2018 and has spent the past six seasons with the Islanders.
In 71 games last season, the Summerside, P.E.I., native posted 39 points (10 goals and 29 assists). Through 388 career regular-season games, he has recorded 230 points (50 goals and 180 assists).
Dobson entered the off-season as a restricted free agent following the expiry of his three-year, $12-million contract.
