The Vancouver Canucks will have 50 per cent arena capacity for home games starting next week after the B.C. government unveiled new rules to combat the COVID-19 surge on Friday.

Making a similar move as Ontario and Quebec the past two days, B.C. will now allow 50 per cent capacity for indoor venues with 1,000 people or more starting Monday. The government says the rule will remain in effect until Jan. 31.

The Canucks have two home games with full capacity this weekend at Rogers Arena -- versus the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday and the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.

The Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens and Canucks are the four NHL teams now at 50 per cent capacity.
