It seems that Arturs Silovs will be taking on official backup goaltender duties tonight when the Vancouver Canucks host the Buffalo Sabres.
The Canucks announced Tuesday that they had recalled the minor-league netminder under emergency conditions. CHEK News' Rick Dhaliwal reported that the reason for this recall is that Kevin Lankinen is under the weather.
Silovs, who was a playoff hero last spring and earned himself a contract extension with the Canucks, has spent the majority of the season with the Abbotsford Canucks after starting the year off rough. In seven games with the big club this year, the Latvian goalie has a 4.11 goals-against average and .847 save percentage.
In the minors, Silovs owns a. 2.53 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in eight starts.
