The Vancouver Canucks have signed SHL defenceman and former Minnesota Wild first-round pick Filip Johansson to a two-year entry level contract, general manager Patrik Allvin announced Monday.

The 22-year-old has played with Frölunda HC of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for the past two seasons, recording three goals and eight assists. In his SHL career, Johansson has 26 points in 132 games.

"He will continue to develop his game in Sweden with Frölunda next season," said Allvin. "But we look forward to welcoming him to Vancouver for Development Camp at UBC next month."

Johansson was drafted in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft, 24th overall, by the Minnesota Wild. The Wild elected not to offer Johansson a contract by the June 1 deadline and lost his rights, acquiring a compensatory second-round pick in the 2022 draft.
