Carolina Hurricanes netminder Frederik Andersen will make his first start in nearly three months Monday night.
The 35-year-old has been sidelined since an Oct. 26 win over the Seattle Kraken, and ultimately underwent knee surgery exactly eight weeks ago in November.
He was activated from injured reserve on Friday and will start against the Blackhawks in Chicago on Monday.
Andersen was 3-1-0 with a 1.46 goals-against average before hitting the shelf, but Pyotr Kochetkov has filled in nicely during his absence and is 15-8-2 since taking over in the crease.
Monday's start against the Blackhawks will mark the 500th in Andersen's career and he holds a 298-128-52 record since he broke into the league with the Anaheim Ducks in 2013.
The Hurricanes are currently third in the Metro Division with a 27-16-3 record.
