With several members of the New York Islanders sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols, their game on Wednesday against the Detroit Red Wings has been postponed.

As of Tuesday, five members of the Islanders were out for a Covid-related reason: Anthony Beauvillier (entered protocols on Dec. 26), Cal Clutterbuck (Dec. 26), Zach Parise (Dec. 26), Oliver Wahlstrom (Dec. 26) and Brock Nelson (Dec. 28).

The Red Wings have been hit hard by the virus as well, with at least six members of the team currently unable to play as well as one assistant coach.

The Islanders say that a make-up date has yet to be established, as has been the case with the overwhelming majority of the league's influx of Covid-related postponements.

Of the 70-plus games postponed so far this season, only one has been made up at this time, with the Ottawa Senators defeating the New Jersey Devils in a Dec. 6 game that was originally scheduled for Nov. 16.
