After losing Brenden Dillon to New Jersey in free agency, the Winnipeg Jets are making a move to bolster their blue line.
The Jets announced Saturday that they officially acquired defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for future considerations.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman first reported the trade on Friday.
Coghlan, who previously played for the Vegas Golden Knights, has spent the past two seasons with the Hurricanes organization. In 2023-24, the 25-year-old played with the Springfield Thunderbirds in the AHL, suiting up for 61 games, where he scored 16 goals and recorded 41 points.
In July 2022, Coghlan was traded to the Hurricanes, along with Max Pacioretty, from Vegas for future considerations. He was offered a one-year contract by the Hurricanes ahead of 2023-24 worth $850,000. The restricted free agent, who has arbitration rights, is owed a new contract.
The return for Coghlan is not yet known.
