The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks each lost a player to injury during the clubs' Tuesday-night tilt, with Zach Bogosian and Antoine Roussel both forced out of the game.
Bogosian's injury came midway through the second period when the veteran defenceman was racing towards the corner for the puck, trailed by Bo Horvat. The defender lost his footing and slammed into the boards, remaining down in discomfort before eventually leaving the ice.
Roussel was forced out of the game after an accidental collision with Mitch Marner as the Leafs winger was backing up trying to control the puck — the Canucks forward appeared to grab his knee while down on the ice in pain before similarly leaving the ice for the locker room.
Neither returned to the game.
In his post-game press conference, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe didn't have a timeline for Bogosian's recover but said "He's definitely going to miss some time," according to Sportsnet's Luke Fox.
Through 44 games with Toronto this season, Bogosian's put up four points while averaging 14:40 minutes of ice per night. Roussell has four points through 34 games with the Canucks in 2020-21.
