The Edmonton Oilers got off to a hot start in Game 3 and their captain hit a milestone in the process.
With a goal and an assist less in the first eight minutes of Monday's Western Conference Final contest against the Dallas Stars, Connor McDavid became the fourth fastest player in NHL history to hit 100 career playoff points.
McDavid hit the century mark in 64 career post-season games, slower than only Wayne Gretzky (46 games), Mario Lemieux (50 games) and current teammate Leon Draisaitl (60 games).
In front of the Edmonton crowd for the first time this series, the Oilers superstar came out flying and got his team started just over two minutes into the first period when he threw a shot on net that deflected off Zach Hyman and into the Stars net.
Just over five minutes later, McDavid would jam in a goal of his own off a beautiful back-door feed from defenceman Mattias Ekholm.
The two-point first period was a nice change of pace for No. 97, as he came into Monday's game pointless in three of the past five contests, including the Oilers' 3-1 loss to the Stars in Game 2.
