The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Kasperi Kapanen to a two-year, $6.4-million contract, avoiding salary arbitration.
Kapanen registered 11 goals and 32 point in 79 games during the 2021-22 season.
The 25-year-old was selected by the Penguins in the first-round of the 2014 NHL Draft before being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs as part of the Phil Kessel deal. He was re-acquired by Pittsburgh after five seasons in Toronto.
In 321 career regular-season NHL games, split between Pittsburgh and Toronto, Kapanen has 63 goals, and 152 points. He has also appeared in 38 Stanley Cup Playoff games where he has recorded 13 points.
