The Detroit Red Wings have activated forward Patrick Kane from the injured reserve after a seven-game absence with a lower-body injury, the team announced Saturday.
He is expected to be in the lineup for the team's game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. (That game can be seen at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.)
The 35-year-old was initially injured in the first period of a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 14.
Kane has seven goals and 16 points in 19 appearances with the Red Wings this year after signing a one-year, $2.75 million contract in late November. He signed a contract over a month into the season because he had surgery for a hip injury through the off-season.
His most recent lower-body injury was unrelated to the hip injury.
As it stands, the Red Wings have a 26-18-6 record and sit in fifth place in the Atlanta Division, only a point behind the Tampa Bay Lightning in fourth and two points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs in third. They're second in the wild-card standings.
