The Buffalo Sabres have lost a young depth forward to injury.
Noah Ostlund suffered a lower-body injury in Game 5 against the Boston Bruins and was forced to leave the game. The team announced he would not return.
The injury occurred in the first period in a collision with Bruins forward Casey Mittelstadt. Ostlund hobbled off the ice without putting weight on his left leg.
After the game, head coach Lindy Ruff didn't have an update but said "it doesn't look good."
The 22-year-old Ostlund had 11 goals and 27 points in 60 games this season as a rookie. He also had a goal and an assist in the series against the Bruins.
The Bruins won the game 2-1 in overtime to force a Game 6 on Friday.
