Thomas Chabot is tough.
The Ottawa Senators defenceman returned ahead of schedule to finish the regular season and playoffs despite his broken forearm not being fully healed, he told reporters on Monday.
Chabot said his arm is still three weeks away from being fully healed.
"I hate watching, and at that time of the year, and to come into the playoffs, I was able to play hockey, and the team and everybody were fine with it, so I got back into the lineup," Chabot said. "Plates and screws, that's what got me to play, to be honest. This is maybe a couple of days over three weeks, so it's far from being healed, but I just wanted to get back out there and play."
Chabot suffered a broken arm on March 23 and then underwent surgery, with a timeline to return being four to eight weeks. However, he battled his way back into action in just 17 days.
The 29-year-old played with a cast to protect his arm from any further damage.
Chabot will now get the entire off-season to recover after the Senators were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.
