San Jose Sharks captain Logan Couture will make his long-awaited season debut Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks, head coach David Quinn confirmed to reporters.
Couture has been sidelined with a lower-body injury that has involved a tougher recovery than expected.
The 34-year-old revealed last month that he thought his ability to play in the NHL again was in jeopardy because of the setbacks he faced in recovery.
"That was the toughest part, the unknown," Couture told NHL.com. “… Waking up one day and feeling good, then waking up the next day and feeling really [lousy], just not knowing. There was no light at the end of the tunnel."
Couture played all 82 games last season registering 67 points (27 goals, 40 assists), his highest total since 2018-19 (70 points; 27 goals, 43 assists).
The team also gets Nico Sturm back in the lineup after suffering a hand/wrist injury back on Dec. 12.
