Free agent Nico Sturm has agreed to a three-year contract with the San Jose Sharks, general manager Mike Grier announced Wednesday.

Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sturm, 27, played for the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche in the 2021-22 season after being traded from the former to the latter on March 16. The centre-man suited up for 74 total games during the campaign, tallying nine goals and 11 assists for 20 total points.

“Nico is a big and powerful forward who has a strong two-way game,” said Grier. “He has shown he can play consistent minutes and provide offence, and helped Colorado to win a Stanley Cup.”

Sturm has registered 20 goals and 19 assists in his four-year career.
