The Montreal Canadiens have claimed defenceman Kale Clague off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings.

This is Jeff Gorton’s first transaction since the Canadiens named him as executive vice president of hockey operations.

Clague, 23, has potted five assists in 11 games this season with the Kings. He was placed on waivers on Friday.

He was selected 51st overall in the 2016 NHL draft by Los Angeles.
