Sportsnet.ca — Swedish forward Fabian Brunnstrom is on a tour visiting three NHL teams he has interest in playing for and Toronto is not on the list.
J.P. Barry, the agent for the 23-year-old Swedish Elite player, said Brunnstrom is meeting representatives of Dallas, Detroit and Montreal this week. Barry said Brunnstrom was in Dallas the last two days and Thursday night (where the Red Wings played the Avalanche) before moving to Montreal for the weekend.
“Right now he wants to focus on these three (teams),” Barry told HC@Noon hosts Daren Millard and Bill Berg. “He’s at the point where he wants to make a decision and if I’m going to add a couple of teams to the list I have to convince him to do it now. I just want to make sure he makes the best choice for himself and he sees as many teams as he can.”
The Leafs are one of many teams who expressed interest in the 6-foot-1, 200-lb winger who had 37 points in 54 games with Farjestad in 2007-08.
“Toronto is one of the (teams) that we’re comparing to. You now, it’s a great opportunity for him. I think there’s certainly opportunity for him in that lineup,” Barry said.
