As first reported by Sportsnet, the Willie Mitchell sweepstakes are over as the Los Angeles Kings announce Wednesday a two-year, $7 million deal for the defenceman.

The other teams pursuing the services of the former Vancouver defenceman have been notified of the decision.

Mitchell missed a good portion of last season and all of the playoffs after suffering a concussion in a January game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 48 games last season he scored four goals and added eight assists.

San Jose, Washington and Vancouver were the three other teams interested in signing the 33-year-old.
