Edmonton Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini announced Friday that forward Magnus Paajarvi has been assigned to the Oklahoma City Barons, the Oilers’ American Hockey League affiliate.

A 6’2, 204 pound forward, Paajarvi is a minus-2 on the campaign and playing an average of 12:03 minutes per game, down from 15:23 played in his rookie year.

As a rookie the Norrkoping, Sweden native posted 15 goals and 19 assists in 80 games. His 34 points were good enough for to be seventh-most on the Oilers.

Paajarvi was drafted by the Oilers in the first round, 10th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
