Canadian Denis Shapovalov is out at Wimbledon after falling to Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz in four sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (2) in their opening-round match on Monday.

Shapovalov was making his Wimbledon debut as a wild card.

The 18-year-old from Richmond Hill, Ont., had 20 aces to Janowicz’s five in the match but went just 1-for-9 in his break opportunities.

The teenager had 34 winners to Janowicz’s 19, but made 21 unforced errors, 18 of which came from his forehand.

More to come.
