Leafs assign defenceman Calle Rosen to AHL Marlies

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock talks about going up against the best team in the league in the Los Angeles Kings and that a difficult challenge will be good for his team.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have assigned defenceman Calle Rosen to AHL Toronto.

The move comes a day after the team signed Roman Polak to a one-year contract.

Rosen signed a two-year contract with the Leafs after three seasons with the Vaxjo Lakers in Sweden.

He competed with fellow Swedish blueliner, Andreas Borgman, for the final spot on Toronto’s blue line, and coach Mike Babcock appears to have favoured the younger, more physical, Borgman.

The 23-year-old Rosen has one assist in four games with the Leafs.
