Ron MacLean has made Oakville, Ont., his home for 32 years. It’s in Oakville where him and his wife, Cari, are active parts of the hockey community, both playing multiple times a week in arenas across the town. In this special personal tour, Ron MacLean takes you to some of the hidden gems of the hockey community in Oakville.

First stop, the Sixteen Mile Sports Complex, where it’s not just hockey stars being born on the ice.

On we go to Appleby College, where St. Thomas, Ont., native and Canadian under-18 national team member Lexie Adzija is filling her days with hockey and education, and following in the footsteps of the likes of Brianne Jenner.

Did you know that the Queen Elizabeth Community and Cultural Centre houses the Oakville Sports Hall of Fame? And within those walls, odes to the likes of Jack Davidson and Ron Zamuner.

After a look at some of the legends Oakville has produced, it was important Ron take you to where greats are made. Our fourth stop takes you to retired NHLer Jamie Allison’s Oakville Hockey Academy.

And lastly, we end at Canlan Ice Sports, where champions hang on the walls.

While Oakville is one of the largest hubs for minor hockey in Ontario, there is also a great amount of history nestled between the massive Oak trees.
