The Toronto Blue Jays saw Jesús Sánchez leave Friday's game against the Texas Rangers early after an awkward play at the wall.
As Sánchez ranged back for an inning-ending catch off the bat of Brandon Nimmo in the top of the seventh, he stepped back onto the wall and rolled his ankle before falling to the ground.
The 28-year-old was able to walk off the field, but was replaced by pinch-hitter Davis Schneider when his spot in the order came up in the bottom half of the inning.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider told reporters post-game that Sánchez sprained his ankle on the play and that X-rays came back negative.
Sánchez was 0-for-2 with a strikeout before exiting.
After being acquired in a February trade with the Houston Astros for Joey Loperfido, Sánchez is now batting .274 with a .753 OPS and seven homers in 73 games for the Blue Jays.
