Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal, New Jersey Devils goaltender Eric Comrie and Winnipeg Jets goaltender Anton Forsberg were added to the NHL's COVID-19 protocol list Friday, per Sportsnet's Chris Johnston.
Meanwhile, Ben Hutton, Karson Kuhlman, Gaetan Haas, James Neal, Luca Sbisa and Kasperi Kapanen were removed from the list.
The league initially released the full list on its opening night and is expected to do so on a daily basis for the rest of the season.
Players can be unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols as a result of a number of factors, including: an initial positive test, which remains unconfirmed pending another result, mandated isolation for symptomatic individuals, required quarantine as a high-risk close contact, isolation based on a confirmed positive test result and/or quarantine for travel or other reasons.
The Jets claimed Forsberg off waivers from the Hurricanes, who got him from the Edmonton Oilers. Since Forsberg remained in Edmonton, he did not have to observe a 14-day quarantine because he stayed in Canada.
Comrie was picked up by the Devils off waivers from the Jets and is still travelling to New Jersey. Staal played in the Hurricanes season opener against the Detroit Red Wings.
