The Utah Mammoth likely were thrilled when Adam Valentini remained available with the last pick of the third round of the NHL Draft on Saturday.
The Mammoth selected the highly regarded University of Michigan centre 96th overall.
Sportsnet's Jason Bukala had Valentini going 31st in his last mock draft.
The five-foot-10 Valentini made a late decision to play for Michigan last season after originally committing to the OHL's Kitchener Rangers.
The Toronto native put up 11 goals and 16 assists in 40 games in his freshman season for the Big Ten champs before notching three goals and two assists in five games for Canada at the world under-18 championship.
The Mammoth are loaded with prospects up front, including 2026 Canadian junior team members Tij Iginla, Caleb Desnoyers and Cole Beaudoin.
Utah also took towering Windsor Spitfires winger Ethan Belchetz in the first round this year (17th overall).
