Ex-Jay Marisnick hits back-to-back grand slams

Former Toronto Blue Jays prospect Jake Marisnick accomplished a rare offensive feat in a double-A game Thursday night.

Marisnick, who was part of November’s blockbuster trade with the Miami Marlins, hit grand slams in back-to-back innings and finished with nine RBIs in the Jacksonville Suns’ 11-2 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

The 22-year-old left-fielder is batting .248 with six home runs and 24 RBIs in 109 at-bats this season.

Meanwhile, Blue Jays right-hander Josh Johnson surrendered six earned runs on eight hits with three walks and three strike outs in a rehab start with triple-A Buffalo Thursday night. Johnson hasn’t pitched since April 21 because of inflammation in his right triceps. He is scheduled to start Tuesday against the San Francisco Giants.
