How Indians’ 20-game streak stacks up in MLB history

The Cleveland Indians tied the 2002 Oakland Athletics for the longest win streak in American League history Tuesday with their 20th straight victory.

Cleveland will now set its sights on tying the 1935 Chicago Cubs for an MLB-record mark of 21 straight wins Wednesday afternoon against the Detroit Tigers. The 1916 New York Giants put together a 26-game unbeaten run, but that number includes a tie.

Oakland’s famous win streak inspired the critically acclaimed 2011 film Moneyball but Cleveland’s stats from its current stretch are even better.
