The Toronto Blue Jays have signed outfielder Curtis Granderson to a one-year contract.
The deal is worth $5 million with incentives for playing time.
The 36-year-old, who will turn 37 by Opening Day, split last season between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Overall, Granderson hit .212 with 26 home runs and 64 RBIs during the 2017 season, but struggled in the 36 games that he played with the Dodgers, batting .161 with seven homers and 12 RBIs.
The lefty hitter and righty thrower had one hit in 15 at-bats during L.A.’s playoff run. He was left off the team’s World Series roster as they fell to the Houston Astros.
The addition of Granderson adds another outfielder option for Toronto, which already has Randal Grichuk, Kevin Pillar, Steve Pearce, Ezequiel Carrera, Teoscar Hernandez along with prospect Anthony Alford.
