Report: Japanese phenom Shohei Otani interviewing MLB agents

The possibility that Japanese baseball phenom Shohei Otani might head to the major-leagues next season appears to have become a bit more real.

Otani has begun the process of interviewing potential agents, Jon Heyman of Fanrag Sports reported Tuesday. The Boras Corporation, Wasserman, The Legacy Agency and Octagon are among the agencies the 23-year-old is reportedly considering.

If Otani does come over to the big-leagues next season, a number of teams figure to be interested in his services, including the Toronto Blue Jays.

He’s a unique talent in that he both pitches with great effectiveness and is also a world-class outfielder and hitter.

Otani, who currently plays for the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, led his team to a Japan Series championship last year while also being named Pacific League MVP.
