Report: MLB to propose shorter season, pay players full pro-rated salary

Major League Baseball intends to propose a shorter season and would pay players a full pro-rated share of their salaries, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

The league envisions a season that would run “somewhere in the neighbourhood of 50 regular-season games,” per Passan but the exact number is still under consideration.

On Sunday, the MLB players union offered a 114-game season and requested a higher percentage of their salaries on Sunday after the league proposed a shorter campaign and additional pay cuts for the players.
