The Toronto Blue Jays have non-tendered catcher Josh Thole, making him a free agent.
Thole has spent his past three seasons with Toronto, mostly as R.A. Dickey’s personal catcher. Last season, his role was more diminished as Russell Martin caught some of the knuckleballer’s starts. In 18 games played last season, Thole batted .204/.250/.245.
For his career, the 29-year-old has a batting line of .249/.319/.314 with eight home runs and 104 RBI.
