Andre De Grasse to participate in NBA All-Star festivities

Canadian sprinter Andre De Grasse has been named among the list of stars who will be playing in the 2018 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

A winner of three Olympic medals at the 2016 games in Rio de Janeiro, De Grasse has made no secret of his love for basketball, listing both Allen Iverson and Vince Carter among his idols.

This year’s all-star festivities will take place in Los Angeles from Feb. 16-18, and the celebrities will be split between Team Clippers and Team Lakers. The game itself will be played on Friday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. ET.

Joining De Grasse on Team Clippers are actor and singer Jamie Foxx, movie and television star Anthony Anderson, as well as former NBA players Paul Pierce and Jason Williams.

On Team Lakers are actor and recording artist Nick Cannon, former Entourage star Jerry Ferrara, former Raptor and future Hall of Famer Tracy McGrady, as well as 2009 and 2010 dunk champion Nate Robinson. Canadian Drew Scott, star of HGTV’s Property Brothers, will also play.

As an added wrinkle to the game, the celebrity event will include a four-point line in the second half and every made shot will result in a $4,000 donation to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.
