Report: Lakers to use amnesty on World Peace

It appears that Metta World Peace’s time with the Los Angeles Lakers is coming to an end.

According to the Orange County Register, the Lakers plan to use their amnesty provision on World Peace.

The veteran forward is entering the final year of his contract where he is scheduled to earn $7.7 million in 2013-14.

World Peace, 33, averaged 12.4 points, five rebounds, and two steals last season. He has spent four years with the organization, helping the Lakers win a championship in 2009-10

He missed time late in the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus.

Without World Peace, the Lakers would have a significant hole at the small forward position.

The Lakers missed out on re-signing centre Dwight Howard and reportedly came to an agreement with veteran Chris Kaman on Monday.
