Report: Lowry, DeRozan committed to Team USA for Rio Olympics

Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry has accepted an invitation to play for Team USA at the Rio Olympics this summer, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lowry’s teammate and fellow all-star DeMar DeRozan has also committed to the U.S., per Yahoo Sports’ Shams Charania.

DeRozan was named to the USA’s original 30-man roster back in January, while Lowry did not make the cut. However, the likes of Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook and James Harden have all withdrawn from the Olympics in recent days, opening the door for Lowry’s inclusion.

Lowry averaged 21.2 points and 6.4 assists in the regular season, with DeRozan racking up 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists.
