Report: Steve Kerr ‘expects’ Steph Curry to return Saturday

The mighty Golden State Warriors could be back to full strength by the weekend.

Steph Curry is expected to make his return from a right ankle sprain on Saturday, Anthony Slater of The Athletic is reporting.

“I doubt he’ll play tomorrow,” Kerr told reporters on Thursday. “With a back-to-back I don’t think it makes much sense. He’s probably going to want to, but I would say it’s more likely that he plays Saturday. If all goes well I expect him to play Saturday. Even if it goes well I would not expect him to play tomorrow.”

The former MVP sprained his right ankle while going for a steal against the New Orleans Pelicans on Dec. 4, and was initially expected to miss a minimum of three weeks. The Warriors have gone 9-1 in his absence, including a big Christmas win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Curry is averaging 26.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.7 steals over 23 games this season.
